2016年にノーベル文学賞を受賞したアメリカのミュージシャン ボブ・ディラン の2ndアルバム「The Times They Are A-Changin’」(邦題：時代は変わる) の表題曲です。

歌詞の意味と解釈

邦題「 時代は変わる 」とあるとおり、歌詞の内容は「古い世代(意識) の人々に、時代の変化を警告するもの」となっています。

歌詞は当時の公民権運動(1950年代～60年代に行われたアメリカの黒人による人種差別の解消を求めた運動) が題材になった箇所が多いようです。

お集りの、あちこちを彷徨うアンタ方 辺りの水がせり上がっている事に気付いたらどうだ。 もうじき骨まで水浸しになる、この状況を受け入れなよ。 命が惜しけりゃ 泳ぎ始めるんだ、さもなきゃ、石みたいに沈んじまう 時代は変わっているのだから

・come gather 「集まる」という意味ですが、この歌の各章は come(=呼びかけ) から始まっているので、上記のように訳しました。 ・roam 歩き回る、放浪する ・drench 水浸しにする、びしょ濡れにする ・your time ここでは time を人生(余命) と訳しました。

線が引かれ、まじないが放たれ 遅れている者が、先を行く者となる。 現在が過去になるように 決まりはどんどん崩れていく。 そして先頭にいる者が、一番後ろになる 時代は変わっているのだから

あのジョブズも

アップルの創業者スティーヴ・ジョブズもボブ・ディランの熱烈なファンだったといいます（ブートレグを買い漁るほどだったそうです）。

1984年、アップルの株主総会でジョブズはこの『The Times They Are A-Changin’』の詩の一部を読み上げたといいます。
