Leica M EV1 camera updates: 45g lighter, customizable FN button (frame selection lever)
Here are three new updates on the upcoming Leica M EV1 camera:
- The new M EV1 will be 45g lighter compared to the M11
- The new FN button (frame selection lever) will have dual functionality for the electronic viewfinder: peaking on/off or zoom on/off (assignable in the menu, I assume)
- The M EV1 will use the same M11 BP-SCL7 battery (the M EV1 is based on the M11 electronics)

- Frame selection lever with dual FN functionality for the viewfinder
- Clean front without a rangefinder window

- Full-frame BSI image sensor with triple resolution technology
- 64GB Internal memory
- Made in Germany
- It should be cheaper than the Leica M11
- Price in EU incl VAT: €7,950 (around $9,300)
- Price in Hong Kong: $75,000 HKD (around $9,600)
- With the new Trump tariffs, the price in the US could be over $10k
- Not sure if it will be available in silver
- The Leica M EV1 is rumored to be officially announced on October 23rd 2025 (±1 day)
- Shipping will start in November
- The camera is already in production:
During my last visit to Wetzlar, part of the production line was covered and not visible to visitors, with the sign “Here is an innovative product in the making. Let us surprise you!”
