Japanese Daycares – 日本の保育園
It took me a long time to find the motivation to write a new article. There were many things I wanted to write about but I didn’t have much time for it after having given birth to my son.
幸運 こううん にも、 息子 むすこ はこの 四月 しがつ から 保育園 ほいくえん に 入 はい ることができ、 私 わたし はまた 働 はたら き 始 はじ めた。
Fortunately, my son could get into a daycare last April and I started working again.
日本 にほん では、 近頃 ちかごろ 多 おお くの 人 ひと が 保育園 ほいくえん 問題 もんだい について 話 はな している。 特 とく に 東京 とうきょう では 十分 じゅうぶん な 施設 しせつ がないので、 子 こ どもを 保育園 ほいくえん に 入 い れることがとても 大変 たいへん だ。 今 いま 私 わたし は 東京 とうきょう に 住 す んでいるので、 息子 むすこ を 保育園 ほいくえん に 入 い れるのは 不可能 ふかのう だろうと 思 おも っていた。 しかし 驚 おどろ いたことに、 息子 むすこ は 受 う け 入 い れてもらえた。
In Japan many people are talking about the issues with daycare centers recently. It is very hard to get your kids into a daycare because of the lack of facilities especially in Tokyo. And living in Tokyo right now, I thought it would be impossible for me to find a daycare center. However surprisingly my son was accepted.

息子 むすこ を 産 う んだ 後 あと に 気 き がついたことの 一 ひと つに、 日本人 にほんじん は 赤 あか ちゃんを 目 め にしたときは 全然 ぜんぜん シャイではないということ がある。 例 たと えば 私 わたし が 息子 むすこ と 出掛 でか けたとき、 たくさんの 人 ひと が 私 わたし に 話 はな しかけ、 息子 むすこ ににっこりと 微笑 ほほえ んだりする。 こういうことが 何度 なんど も 起 お きたので、「 だれが 日本人 にほんじん はシャイだなんて 言 い ったの？」 という 気持 きも ちになってしまった。
One thing I realized after giving birth to my son is that Japanese people are not shy at all when they see a baby. For example when I was going outside with my son, many people started a conversation with me and smiled to him a lot. This thing happened so many times I began to wonder “Who said Japanese were shy?”.
子 こ どもを 持 も ったおかげで、 以前 いぜん は 知 し らなかった 日本社会 にほんしゃかい と 日本人 にほんじん のもう 一 ひと つの 面 めん を 発見 はっけん した。 今後 こんご の 記事 きじ でそれについて 書 か いていければと 思 おも う。
Thanks to having a kid, I discovered another aspect of Japanese society and people I wasn’t aware about. I’m thinking about writing more about this in the upcoming articles.
