歌詞の意味と解釈

タイトルの「 オブ・ラ・ディ、オブ・ラ・ダ 」という不思議な言葉は、”曲の中で歌われる歌” として登場します。

・twenty carat golden ring 20金の指輪。カラットは宝石の重さだけでなく、金の含有比も指します。 カラットと聞くと宝石を思い浮かべがちますが、20カラットはダイヤだったら数億円…。ですので、ここでは婚約指輪にしては地味な(だけど愛情が込められた) 金の指輪をイメージしました。

・home sweet home 「わが家が一番」という意味になりますが、文脈からそのまま「明るい家庭」と訳しました。

デズモンドは「家で彼の顔(his pretty face) にお化粧をして」「彼女はバンドのシンガー(she's a singer with the band)」となっています。問題は男性であるデズモンドが「she」なところです。
