Origami Christmas Tree
This Christmas Tree is the latest origami model by Francesco Guarnieri which he generously shared just a few days ago!
It’s folded from 6 octagons of different sizes that you cut out of squares after some pre-creasing. Follow the link below for the Crease Pattern.
No cutting or gluing required to make the units but you may want to add a dab of glue between them for more stability (though I didn’t). Great design to make and decorate your home or office for the Holiday Season!

Maria / November 18, 2011 Thank you Francesco, I’m glad you like it!) Deborah ZAwacki / November 18, 2012I would like to try this with a sixth grade integrated arts class–some of whom are very gifted artistically–but the directions need to be foolproof–and they need to be able to follow the steps without me repeating them over and over again–and having to end up doing the work for the ones who cant . I would dearly love if you could send me 5 versions of your crease pattern in the EXACT sizes and with the exact cut lines marked. I know this is is a lot to ask but it would make my life far less difficult.
Renato Russian / December 10, 2013Procuro o diagrama da estrela sem fim. Por favor como conseguir. Obrigado. abraço. Renato Russian = reorig@gmail.com.br

Maria / November 18, 2011 I feel like this tree will look great in any color really! David / November 20, 2011Gorgeous! Sugar paper? Blue and white Christmas theme, blue angels, silver or gold stars, very eclectic…
Gloria / November 21, 2011 ¡Muchas Gracias por compartir! Norberto Kawakami / November 21, 2011Thanks for your tips to this model… I’ll fold it today and put it on my flickr collection http://www.flickr.com/photos/origami_kawakami/collections/72157610887605537/

Saulius / December 1, 2011 I did 1 extra 9 cm on the top… Looks better )) Maria / December 1, 2011The more the better! You can also try to rearrange units in a different way, something like that http://www.flickr.com/photos/f_guarnieri/6411140785/in/faves-goorigami/
luciacara / December 5, 2011Thank you so much for the photo diagrams…I would not have been able to figure out the folding without them. And thanks to Francesco for such a great model!
Randrews / December 8, 2011Hey, I am having some problems collapsing the crease pattern, owing to the fact that the example, while beautiful, is also colored on both sides, does anyone have a collapse example in single sided paper? Help? I have all the pieces cut and creased, but this is killing me!
Maria / December 8, 2011Hi Randrews – The first 6 pics of my “collapsing tutorial” show the colored side of the paper in case of one-sided paper. Before collapsing place your precreased piece colored side up and check with the first step if all creases that supposed to be mountains are mountains, and all valleys are valleys. Also note that the biggest picture in Francesco’s Crease Pattern shows the white side of the paper, and steps 2-5 of the CP show the colored side.
Marija / December 15, 2011Adore the model, well done, will make some trees as christmas table decoration, thank you for sharing :)
alexandra / December 23, 2011 can you make a video ?? thanks :) cristina / December 26, 2011ciao francesco! l’albero è stupendo…tanto che dopo averlo scoperto una settimana prima di Natale ho tentato di replicarlo con i miei alunni a scuola ma non ci siamo proprio riusciti. magari vedere un video sarebbe molto più esplicativo per chi come me è alle prime armi…. comunque complimenti! cristina

/Denise / July 10, 2012It is beautiful. where can i learn how to fold the unit. i say this model being taught by Sara Adams but it looks different
Maria / July 10, 2012I believe Sara taught another model (but by the same designer). There is no detailed step-by-step tutorial for this one, as far as I know, but you can fold it from this crease pattern – cut an octagon and pre-crease all mountains and valleys according to the pattern and then collapse units as shown in the post.
Denise / July 13, 2012Thanks so much for your help. I enjoyed folding this model and planning to fold the other versions. I did not use glue, but instead, each time i was folding a smaller unit, i was using paper clips to hold the previous folded ones together. i folded the units from flowery pattern cami. I rally love the model
Maria / July 15, 2012 Glad to help! :) Denis / July 10, 2012Thanks so much for the reply and for the useful suggestions. I will try to fold it and will send a picture of the results.
Alex / November 22, 2012Hi! I’d really like to make these for our office Christmas party, but I’m finding the ‘quick guide’ impossible to follow, as I have no idea which bits are being folded where. Do you know if anyone has come up with a step-by-step guide or a video tutorial?
Maria / November 22, 2012Hi Alex! I think I saw Francesco mentioning somewhere that there was a tutorial, which he neither liked, nor gave permission to make. But you can try to find it though! The “quick guide” is only showing how to collapse units after pre-creasing. You have to work out the crease pattern first.
