Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You エド・シーラン – シェイプ・オブ・ユー

イギリスのシンガーソングライター エド・シーラン の3rdアルバム「÷」(ディバイド 2017年)のリードシングルとして、『Castle On The Hill』と同時にリリースされた曲です。

トロピカルハウスと形容されるカリブ風のリズムが特徴の曲で、アメリカ・イギリスをはじめとする世界34か国のシングルチャートで1位を獲得するなど、世界中でヒットしました。

当初はリアーナに提供するつもりで書かれていたそうですが（リアーナはカリブ海の島国バルバドス出身）、所属レーベル社長の提言により、エド自身の曲としてリリースしたそうです。

ミュージックビデオは、途中まではストーリーを感じさせる作品ですが、いきなり力士が現れコミカルになります。 （登場する力士は海外で相撲タレントとして活躍している山本山龍太 氏です）（エドの体に入ったタトゥーも凄い迫力ですが…）

また、TLCの『No Scrubs』に似ているとネット上で話題となり、結果として同曲の制作者も作曲者としてクレジットされるようになりました。

歌詞の意味と解釈

タイトル「 シェイプ・オブ・ユー 」を訳すと"君の形“となります。

歌詞には性的な表現もあり、"I’m in love with the shape of you“(僕は君のカタチに夢中なんだ)という歌詞から考えると、「体目的の遊びの恋愛」のように思えます。
